Welcome to Snowy Texas

Warning: Pictures Galore...

Huh?

Really?

Eli is saying the same thing, but I'm not sure if it's about the weather or me taking his photo while he's pooping. What a good boy braving the snow and cold! Sammi just takes a big ol' shit on the porch! She's always done that when it's snowing or raining. She ain't going out in it!

Anyway, these pics were taken about five minutes ago. It's been snowing about the last 45 minutes or so, and is supposed to continue through this afternoon. We'll see how much we end up with. I know this isn't much to some of you people who've gotten literally tons of snow this winter, but this is only our second "skiff" of it. Big news around here. The Dallas-Ft. Worth area is paralyzed. We are snow wimps and cannot drive worth two shits in it. My hubby just texted me that they worked three roll-over wrecks within the first 30 minutes of the snow starting. Wow. What is wrong with you people?

I roasted a Butterball Turkey Breast (Cajun Seasoned) on Wednesday. We had turkey, dressing, green beans, deviled eggs, and cranberry sauce. It was so good! Then yesterday we had turkey sandwiches...mine with the cranberry sauce on it. YUM! I think we have enough leftover turkey for one more sandwich each.

And just a few days ago, it was nearly 80 degrees and we were grilling hamburgers!

I picked these Paperwhites from the garden because they were all pretty and bloomed out and it was fixin' to freeze. I wanted to bring them in and enjoy them a while longer. They were so pretty.

No, it's not a cold sore. What do you think, I'm gross or something? I asked Fletch for a kiss, and he got a little rambunctious and nipped my top lip! It hurt like hell! LOL. You have to watch that one. He's crazy! He gets overly-excited and can't control himself. Jeez. You'd think I'd learn! Believe it or not, this disappeared before the day was over. All that was left was a purple lip on the underneath side.

Dog Pictures (and a couple with me).

An iPhone pic of me (sans make-up) and Eli laying in bed.

Crazy-ass sleeping. Don't sneak up on him!

Ollie

Me & Ollie (again sans make-up).
Who cares?

Sammi

And I can't leave Janie out.
I don't think she could see me very well so she looks a little startled.

End of Dog Pictures

I went shopping the other day in Plano, and when I came out of the store, look what I had waiting for me...

My own personal cop waiting in the parking lot for me.
I had texted him and told him where I was going.
I snuck a kiss or two through his window.

Man, did I dig up a variety of pictures from the last couple of weeks or what?  I didn't realize I had that many I hadn't showed you.

**Update**

I just went out and took some updated pictures of the snow. It's really coming down! Look at the difference in the first pictures and these...

My poor Rosemary.
Hang in there, Rosemary!
I love you. You can make it!
Love grows where my Rosemary goes,
And nobody knows like me.

Bye, Friends!
Coffee and a fire coming up...

Grape Doily

Pattern:  A Year of Doilies Book 5, April
Thread:  Aunt Lydia's #10, Wood Violet
Hook:  1.75 mm
Measurement:  21 inches

It felt so good to get back to the thread crochet! I had never done a doily with grapes so decided to give this one a try. The pattern states the doily is 15.5 inches, but mine came out much larger for some reason, at 21 inches. The book this pattern is in (listed above) is a great book to have if you like crocheting doilies. This is the third pattern I've made out of it.

Updated:  3/13/15 added to the link party HERE.

We've had snow and ice the last two days, and we may get more tomorrow. Our last big hoorah for "winter" usually comes in February, so it's right on time. We've been enjoying a fire in the fireplace and all the coziness that goes with it.

I'll start another doily today, so I'll need to sit down and pick one out. I've got the bug again.

Nothing else happening around here. Thanks for stopping by!

Love to you all.

Aqua Baby Sweater

Pattern:  Blue Rose Baby Sweater (Purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn:  Knit Picks Brava Sport in Cornflower, 325-350 yards
Hook:  Size F (one size larger than pattern states)
Size:  Infant (Smallest in pattern)

Sweet pattern. I liked it. Would rather have made it in a darker shade so the stitching showed up better (that's my favorite part), but I needed to use what I had in my stash and went with the aqua. I ended up having to buy more after all. The pattern did not say how much yarn was needed to make the sweater.

I'm very boring lately.
I gots nothin'.
See ya.

Yarn

I flipped on the light of my dark bedroom and...

I found two snuggle bunnies in there!

Valentine leftovers...

Not much to say.
See ya.

I Love...

A Wedge Salad

I'd been craving a wedge salad for a couple of days and finally had one. It was GOOD! A wedge of fresh iceberg lettuce, bacon, feta, tomato, onion, a little cheddar, blue cheese dressing, and fresh-cracked black pepper. Fantabulous!

Making a scarf now.

Four of our Paperwhites out in the backyard have already bloomed.

Now that Fair Isle Book...

This is the cover.
And here are a few things you'll find inside...

A sampler piece they show framed on the wall.

I love these washcloths.

A pretty pillow cover.

An adorable bunny with sweater, scarf, dress, hat, and purse.
CUTE!

And this amazing baby blanket. Wow.
How great would it be to make this?

There are lots of other things in the book too, like sweaters and stuff. I really like the book. Two thumbs up. I love Nicki Trench's crochet books, which I've said here before. That's the main reason I chose this book. She did not disappoint. I WILL be making a few things out of this book some day when I've honed my knitting skills and knowledge a little more (a lot more).

I wish I'd get my KP order so I could finish that baby sweater. I'm chomping at the bit. They haven't even shipped it yet. What's up with your sporadic shipping times, Knit Picks? I wish I Tweeted so I could rip them a new one. I know they monitor social media for comments like that and usually respond. I'd like to know why they're like that. I promise I won't mention it again until I receive my order. I know it gets old hearing me bitch about the same old thing.

In honor of Valentines Day, here are some things I love, some of which you already know. These are in no certain order. You already know I love my hubby and my dogs and my yarny things, so I won't mention the obvious ones.

1.  The NASCAR season is about to start up. The first race is on Saturday night, and then the Daytona 500 is next Sunday. I'm looking forward to it. I love NASCAR.

2.  Suave Rosemary Mint Shampoo

3.  Baby Magic Baby Lotion.

4.  Bonnie Bell Skin Musk.

5.  Eos Lip Balm eggs.

6.  Eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially poached.

7.  Buying sheets and pillowcases -- really, anything for the bed.

8.  Road Trips.

9.  Very cool or cold weather and winter clothes.

10.  Swimming.

11.  I have to say it...puppy breath.

12.  Complimenting a stranger.

13.  The sound of our clock ticking in the house and the swing of the pendulum.

14.  Believing in angels.

15.  Taco Bell.

I think 15 is plenty, don't you?
I have lots more!
What do you love?

Knit Hooded Cowl

I finished it! Woot!

Pattern:  The Ryder Raccoon (not in raccoon colors and without ears), The Velvet Acorn
Yarn:  Lion Brand Thick & Quick in Charcoal & Sequoia
Needles:  Size US 13, 24" circular
Size:  Adult

There are some imperfections around the edge of the hood the charcoal color that are really bugging me. I may rip that out and redo it, but I'm leaning towards just leaving it as it is. If it were made for someone else, I would definitely fix that, but since it's for me, meh, who cares? It's home-made! It's supposed to have little imperfections, right?  :)

I've enjoyed making this SO MUCH! Even all the tantrums and ripping out, when I look back on them, were all part of the learning experience, and I'm grateful for them. My friend, Kris, made one along with me for her granddaughter, and we chatted on the phone and via text every single day, sometimes all day, keeping each other up to date with our progress with pictures and laughing and bitching and generally having a good time. Thank you, Kris, for doing this along with me! It's so fun to have someone to knit or crochet with, even if it's "virtually" through technology.

So now I'm waiting on my second shipment from Knit Picks, who hasn't even shipped my order yet, so I can finish crocheting the baby sweater. It's hit or miss with them. Sometimes it takes them a week to even ship, and sometimes you get it in two days! They are very inconsistent in their shipping times. Am I whining? Yes. Yes, I am.

I'm going over to post my hooded-cowl on Lunamon's Link-Up since it's today. I love seeing what everyone has been making and get some great ideas at link-ups.

See ya.
(I'll post the Fair Isle book stuff next time, I promise!)
