A Little Crochet & More

Filet Daisy Potholder
Pattern in the book pictured below, which I'm giving away.
See my last post to enter and for details.
I used #10 thread held double and a 2.25 mm hook to make this.
The pattern calls for #3 thread and I didn't have any.
Mine came out to 11.5 inches in diameter.

The deadline for entering to win this book is tomorrow at midnight.
Go HERE to leave a comment to enter.

In other Giveaway News...Teresa is also having a giveaway on her blog HERE. She's giving away a pair of her handmade earrings! Go have a look-see and leave her some love. ♥

The office-painting is still underway, but nearly complete.
It took two coats of primer to cover the yellow...
And THREE coats to cover the purple.
What a pain in the ass! Ugh!

Eli sat on top of the printer nearly the whole time.
Everyone else was standing on stools and chairs.
It just seemed like the thing to do to him.

Anyway, I can hardly wait to show you the finished results. A second coat will go on today, and then I'll be able to show you the AFTER pictures. It doesn't look like the same room!
I ordered all new outlet and switch plates for the dining room and office.
These are the ones I got for the dining room.
Much better than the standard plastic ones.
These little touches make a big difference.

As soon as we get everything done and the furniture put back in place, I'll be showing you the finished rooms. Just a few more days.

I've gotten a few new herbs lately for my window.
Some parsley and some basil to use in cooking.
I need one small rosemary to go in there and I'm set.
Of course I have a few succulents in there too.

Who can resist all the fall (Halloween) candy?
These are pretty good!

See ya Thursday when I announce the winner!

  1. Wow, I *LOVE* that hot-pad! Is is doubled? You really make the most beautiful things. I can't wait to see the new and improved office. Thanks for the shout out. I absolutely adore Eli. And how cute that he wants to help paint. What a doll. I have a garden window too.. I just love it. Did you see that I finally found and got a button jug? I just drooled over yours. Enjoy all your home improvement! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. I love how Eli is helping you paint...such vigilant support! That is a kind of candy corn I would probably really enjoy if I could eat it...I'm avoiding gluten, dairy and soy...but still find too much good stuff to eat :) Have you tried making peanut butter cookies: one cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup sugar, one egg, and 1/2 cup mini-chocolate chips [I use Enjoy Life brand]? 350 degrees about nine minutes. So easy and I think yummy! Your Filet Daisy Potholder is so beautiful! I really admire your skill in crocheting, Pammy Sue. I am enjoying Fall too, and love your photos of the world around you! xx

  3. Love you handy work, my dog also wants hands, I can tell :)

  4. Already can tell the new color will be a major improvement. Peanut butter candy corn. Yum.

  5. That hot pad is so pretty. Yes. I just know I'll be the winner of the book. ***grin*** Eli is such a big helper. Don't you wonder what goes through their minds? I just accidently hit Chloe on the nose and I feel SO BAD. She was standing right next to me and I didn't know it and I lowered my arm more forcefully than I thought I did. She looked at me like, "What did I do, Mom?" I snuggled with her and kissed it all better and she's happy as usual now, but I still feel bad. :-( That paint looks really nice and I'm looking forward to the "after" pictures. If it weren't for my PT on my back I would have happily helped you paint. I love to paint! Really I do. I have wanted a window garden like yours in every house we've owned and I still don't have one. Maybe I need to do some talking to Dennis. And maybe when we visit you, you can tell him just how much you like yours. :-) Ha!
    Talk to you again soon.

  6. Can there be anything sweeter than a precious pup-dog!?
Eli is a doll baby. If all the other pups are standing on things, so shall I. Ha ha
Leaves are falling, candy corn is everywhere (love the new flavor), a crisp of cool in the air - ahh I LOVE FALL!!!!
Those switch plates are so pretty. They really go well with the new paint color. Looking forward to the completed reveal.
Oh, those two little birds on your herb shelf are adorable, skinny legs and all. I planted a small rosemary plant outside my backdoor and it's now three foot wide and tall. They sure do grow quickly in the NW.
Is that a Susan Branch wall calendar I spy on the wall!? Love Susan's watercolors.
All the best to you, DH & the pups.

  7. I love how you're doing up your new home - the shades of brown are so you (well, as I know you anyway) and very classy looking. Isn't Eli a cutie and such a wonderful apprentice. The stepping stones look great - where do they lead to? I want one of those potholders !! Wouldn't be used as a potholder though .... I think I'd decorate my craft room with one or two of them. Do you think that using the thread doubled makes the colour so vivid or is that just the colour of it ? Looks amazing. xox

  8. Hi Pammy Sue, love your gorgeous crocheted treasure. Looks like a lot going on in your world with painting. Going over purple is tough.
Love your stepping stone path. Seeing the colorful leaves is a pretty sight. We don't see much of that here for fall. The leaves fall but not a lot of color.
Oh my the candy corn looks so good. I love peanut butter.
Have a great rest of the week. cm

hi pammy sue...your puppies are so adorable...thank you for sharing how you and yours are transforming your new residence to make it your own cozy home...love the wall paint color in the living room...anxious to see the results in your office...the potholder is great - a "pop" of color...trust the propane stove is keeping all toasty...take care...sally

  10. Amazing what paint can do to make your home "new" again! Eli is so cute!

  11. The house is getting such a nice makeover, it will be so fun to see the after photos. Just put my name on the book and pop it in the mail!
    Hugs to you Pammy Sue,

  12. Love you pink doily hot pad - pretty xx

  13. I'm excited to see everything all pulled together. Love your pink doily.

  14. Love that potholder..... I make one similar that I saw in shop in CA over 25 years ago and loved it so much, I tried to write down the stitches.. I've probably made at least 30 of them and love them.. they are more like a table mat but love that flower design in yours. Your work is so flawless. We have just moved also and are painting bright walls... our bright yellows did take 2 coats of primer also and probably could have used a third coat! What a pain in the arrss..... sure looks nice when it's done though and love your colors in your sweet little home. Falling leaves... crunch crunch... signs of winter coming! Marilyn

  15. Your office already looks so much better! I hope that it will soon all be done. xx

  16. Lovely pretty potholder Pammy Sue, cant wait to see your finished rooms, I love those switch plates the finishing touches makes all the difference. :) xx
