Granny Socks/Booties

When I saw these socks over on Amy's blog HERE, I just had to get my hands on the pattern and make some. She won her socks already made in a giveaway.

You can find the pattern in this magazine, Simply Crochet Issue 26 (UK). I googled it and bought a digital copy of the magazine for $6.99.

I made mine with worsted-weight yarn (Vanna's for the toe, heel, and top, and ILTY in Dakota for the foot and ankle) and the smallest hook, but they still came out a little bulky for my liking as socks. They're more like booties and will make for some comfy house shoes. I always wear socks in the house. I'll make my next pair with dk-weight (or sport) for a snugger fit. Snugger? More snug? Snug-a-licious? Snug-a-lug-a-ding-dong?

That's it from me. Sorry I haven't been very chatty lately. There's just nothing going on.  See ya.

  1. I love them, I think you should make several pairs and give them away, hint, hint. Hope your shoulder is feeling better today.

  4. Very cute!! Your toes should be snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug.
Sorry, couldn't resist continuing with the "snug" thing :)

  5. Your socks turned out great. I like the color combination. Sox or booties, they look comfy and warm. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday, Heather

  6. Great socks Pam. Like you, I would prefer to have finer yarn for socks (mind you I've never made any socks) and reckon crochet ones in a DK yarn would make excellent slippers or house shoes. I bet they're nice and warm. I subscribe to Simply Crochet and it costs me well over $100 a year - I'm considering changing to digital subscription when my current paper one runs out as it will be much cheaper and the little gifts they send aren't all that great. Must have a look at that sock pattern - you truly are an inspiration. xox

  9. Those would be good for lounging.. but might be a bit slippery for walking on un-carpeted floors. Be careful! They are pretty! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  19. Them booties would fit me quite perfectly.
Also the size of the foot has nothing to do with any other size anywhere. The arms for example.

  22. Very pretty, Pammy Sue! I think it's no disadvantage that they are a little bulky. Sometimes when it's very very cold I feel like normal sock yarn socks are not warm enough for my feet and I wish I had such bulky booties to put them over the normal socks like house shoes ;-). Greetings, Nata
