Lunch Lady Can't Cook

The brownies were a big disappointment and turned out dry. I had the temp turned down to 335 to adjust for the non-stick pan, and they cooked very evenly and edges didn't get done too fast, but the whole thing was dry, dry, dry. I'm never making brownies from scratch again. You just can't beat the boxed mixes, and it's much easier!

Just thought I'd pop in and tell y'all that in case you were thinking of making them.

  1. Boy am I glad you popped in to tell us that! I was just getting the ingredients out to make a batch for our Bible study group tonight. Maybe I'll just buy cookies instead! :-) Thanks for the heads up!

  3. Oh, that stinks! I'm sorry to hear that. I've always been a box brownie girl, too, but I found a from scratch recipe last year that was awesome. It's not on the web anymore but I have a printed copy I can email you if you'd like.

  6. Oh I hate to waste ingredients! You should have just licked the bowl of the batter! Darn! Box mixes are pretty hard to beat!
I have been craving lemon bars. Hmmm, maybe tomorrow?

  7. I must send you my daughter's brownie recipe one day. She uses a cheap (home brand) chocolate cake mix and something else LOL ... can't remember what ... but her brownies turn out so yummy. Give the puppies a big hug for me and you have a good weekend. xoxox

  8. Good to know, cause they sure SEEMED like they should be good. I recently read on one of my favorite blogs (my five men) that the Ghirardelli box mix is amazing. I looked for it in the grocery store, but didn't see it. =( Have a good day, Pammy Sue. blessings ~ tanna

  9. I always make the box brownies too. My family seems to like them just fine. Who needs fancy brownies? Your knitting is looking good. You must be a fast learner because it took me a LONG time to get the hang of it. Wish I had more time for crafting. :)

  10. Dry brownies, heck, my solution would be to throw some vanilla ice cream on top and let them soften up a bit.
Yes, and my hips show it too.
