Poncho Tah-Dah!

Yay, yay, yay!
Warning:  Picture Overload

I've gotta tell you...this was so much fun to make! Maybe it's because I rarely crochet clothing and I've been crocheting lots of doilies over the past year, but whatever it was, I loved every minute of it. I didn't even really get mad that I had to start completely over after spending a couple of hours starting it.

I tried it on before starting the edging to make sure it was long enough for me, and I was surprised at how comfortable it is. The cowl neck is made with Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn, so it's really soft. Plus the opening is big since it's a cowl neck. I love it!

Here are the details:

Pattern:  Simply Crochet Magazine Issue 25, Cowl-Neck Poncho
Yarn & Colors:
Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Gray Mist, less than 2 skeins
Scheepjeswol Stone Washed (50g skeins):
3 1/4 skeins Amazonite (813)
1 2/3 skeins Blue Apatite (805)
Knit Picks Brava Sport in Peacock, less than 1 skein
Hook:  Size J for entire pattern

Alterations to pattern:  Crocheted 30 rounds of body, then 2 rds sc, then replaced fringe with my own edging.

  3. Wow wow wow and wow !!!!!! It's gorgeous. Since I first saw that you were making this, and knowing the pattern is fro Simply Crochet, I've been hanging out for my copy to arrive in the mail but it still hasn't got here. Apparently they've had some production problems but it's well and truly overdue. You have a real knack of picking great colours - I might have to ask for suggestions ---- you know my colouring - any ideas?? xox

  9. I am so tempted to make this, but I am short with a short neck and narrow shoulders and am scared of it 'wearing me' rather than me wearing it lol.
Love your colourway (so me). I am definitely gonna make the wrist warmers tho.

  20. Beautiful! I'm going to put my other project down and start one today! The pattern calls for a chunky weight yarn. I was thinking of using the Loops n' Thread Charisma yarn from Michael's. Think that will work. Again, thanks for the "e-mail" present!

  25. Oh this turned out just lovely. I like soft muted colors, and prefer your edging to the fringe. This will be on the hook, colors abound must give it some thought, for sure it will have some cranberry and ivory in it somewhere...thank your you're sharing heart.

  28. Love your color selection and especially the edging. I tire of fringe real easy though as a young woman in the 60's owned a lot of fringy clothing. LOL
It looks incredibly comfortable ...do enjoy your Masterpiece Pammy Sue!

  29. HELP! So I'm trying this pattern, and it looks nothing like yours at the cowl.Well, I don't have chunky yarn, so I used two strands of Caron Simply soft.you used DK. I may have to slow down and find some DK, and then go to the tutorial you told us about for the particular how to's. Haste does make waste.
