Sappiness & New Yarn

I know there are a lot of people who follow my blog that don't comment, or at least don't comment very often. When I do hear from you people, it makes me happy. That simple comment can turn my day around.

Because I'm human, sometimes I see that I have 8 or 10 comments on a post and it gets me down. I start feeling like nobody is reading, or I'm boring, or people just flat-out don't like me. Isn't that silly and insecure of me? I have to remind myself that even if I have ZERO comments, I'd still keep doing it. After all, we all started doing this with zero commenters and/or followers, didn't we? I didn't even have the Followers capability on my blog for at least two years, and I still loved doing it.

Anyway, thank you ALL for commenting, whether it's once or twice a year, or nearly every time I post. Or I guess I should say just thank you for reading. You make my life better. You make me happy. You fill a space in my heart that would be empty otherwise, as pathetic as that sounds. It's not pathetic. It's just a part of my life now, this blogging thing. To know I've made someone smile, or feel better, or just entertained you with my silliness sometimes, makes it worthwhile.

Okay, sugary-sweetness over. I'll get to the post for today. Oh, wait! Look at this first...

Look how cute! GAH!
Look at his little toes spread out.
Gosh, I'm feeling all sappy and loving today.

Now the real point of my post today...NEW YARN!

 Sammi thinks it smells good.
She kept poking her flat nose way down in the skeins.

I've been dying to get my hands of some of this yarn since I first saw it. I had to order it from Deramore's in England because they don't sell it over here in the U.S. Isn't it beautiful and fun-looking? It's very soft too...78% cotton and 22% acrylic. I just keep staring at it and pondering what I'm going to make with it. I want to make something like a poncho or blanket or something that uses all of these seven colors together. I spent a good two hours looking through patterns yesterday on Ravelry. I'll settle on something soon, I hope.

In the meantime, look at this:

Now THAT'S a granny poncho! It's made with over 200 little grannies! I would never make something like this because I'd never have the patience to make 200 of anything, but I love looking at this one. I love the fur trim too.  And the browns. I love everything about it. Credit and more information:  HERE

This makes me laugh every time I look at it.
He is sleeping HARD!
I got this picture from Pinterest but forgot to save the source.

Have a wonderful day, Friends.

That's Amore

The first picture shows more the true color of the yarn I used to make the doily in my last post. It's called Country Rose, but it's not the color of any rose I've ever seen. I hope it's showing up correctly on your screen because it really is a pretty color. I liked this brand of yarn, but I did notice that it wasn't the same as Aunt Lydia's. It's a subtle difference, but it's there...not better or worse, just different. I'd buy it again if I wanted a particular color in this brand.

The Paperwhite bulbs I bought are in the bowl and ready to start growing. I found this particular way of growing them indoors on the Internet...just glass beads and enough water to cover the bottoms of the bulbs. I can't wait to watch them progress! I'm more excited than I should be over these. At least I can stir up some enthusiasm for something.

I'm going to keep them sitting with all the other plants in my kitchen window. I think that window has some kind of special magic for plants, as they've all done really well. Crossing my fingers it works its magic on the Paperwhites too.

Funny Dog Pics...

That's right...I broke out the snow people!
Although it's still very much fall around here...

See the sliver of a moon in the above picture?
It's very faint.

I think I can get better pics of the moon with my camera.
There are some settings I'm going to play with and try again.
I'm an amateur, but I try.

Have a nice day.

November Rose Doily

I thought I'd never finish this!
I did enjoy it though. I just really took my time.
None of the pictures show the true color.
It's an orangey-rose; less pink than is showing here.

Pattern:  I knew you'd ask that. See Below.
Thread:  Artiste (Hobby Lobby Brand) #10 Cotton
Hook:  Size 2.00 mm (Tulip)
Size:  20"

This is the cover of the foreign magazine it came from.

And here's the chart (top one).

Have a Homey Thanksgiving

It's been blue skies and warm weather for days.
I've enjoyed it out on the porch with the doggies.

I've also done plenty of hunkering down inside pretending it's winter.

Sammi was not impressed with Mr. Scarecrow invading her space.
She indulged me for a picture.

Mmm...pecan pies!

The last row of this doily is giving me fits.
I can't figure it out in one place.
I just decided to change the pattern instead of ripping it out yet again.
It's still going to take me a good hour and a half to finish.
Then it needs a good soaking before I pin it out on the blocking board.
I'm crossing my fingers it flattens out, but I'm leery of this one.

Thanksgiving will be a quiet one around here. The Captain is working 7a-7p. Those pecan pies are going to work with him for all the guys working tomorrow. Some other wives are sending food too, so they'll be taken care of when they get a chance to run into the station and eat.

Y'all enjoy whatever you're doing and have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Nothin' Much

Primrose Dishcloth Pattern:  HERE
A lot of people have been making these.
They finally got me and I made a few.

It was time for the plants to come inside.

They all did so well over the summer.
Many had babies even!

The fall decorations will come down in about a week.
I don't think I'm going to even bother with the Christmas stuff this year.
Screw it. Bah-Humbug!
Christmas has never been my thing anyway.
Maybe I'll put a Santa hat on my Buddha.

See ya.

Other People's Stuff (Flickr)

This is somebody else's sketch from their journal.
I know it's very hard to tell hers from mine...
Amazing! So good!

Love these browns!

I love this bulky-yarn blanket.
Who'd have thunk it would look so good?

I'd never wear this, but it's sooooo pretty!
It would be fun to make too.

Now I might where something more like this.
I think that's just a t-shirt that she cut and crocheted on.
I could do that....I think.

Wow! That had to take a lot of time.

Love the gray.

That's all I've got.
