The Texas State Fair 2014

The people...

The landscaping...

Big Tex
He tragically burned last year in an electrical fire so he's brand-new.

Dallas, Texas

More of the Arts Barn Exhibits another post...
I loved this quilt.

We went up in this thing! Once it gets to the top, it turns around slowly for a 360 degree view.

The food!
I had this Jalapeno-Cheese Corndog.

I started this post with people, so I'll end it with people.
The funnest part was looking at all of them!

Her sunglasses were big pink hearts!

  1. Glad to see "Bg Tex" is back. The fire was heartbreaking.

And that crocheted dress . . so pretty :)

Don't know what I can say about the woman in the heart sunglasses . . . I think that could be a whole new post.

  2. It looks as though you had a great time. The little dress and quilt are beautiful. I had to laugh at the last picture though! Hilarious.

  4. That corn dog sounds gooooood, but I'd be a *little* nervous going on that 360-degree thing. I used to like amusement park/fair rides, but now I'm a coward. ;o)

  7. Great pics, Pammy Sue! Mine aren't nearly that good, but I just have a basic cheapo digital camera. When did you go to the fair? We were there yesterday, the 4th. Sounds like you had fun; people watching can be the best entertainment!

  8. Looks like you had a great day.
That quilt makes me wish I was a woman patient enough to sew...I am not.
I was looking at Big Tex's attire and wondering who makes those gigantic clothing. LOL

    Happy Sunday....

  10. You had a great day I bet! I enjoyed looking at your photos, I have never been to the States, so I am really curious. I like this cute crocheted dress. Unfortunately my children are a lot bigger by now and if I start doing something for them it is always a big project. My daughter wants to have a poncho, I will start with it this evening, I wonder if I will make it. Have a nice week coming, Viola

  11. LOL .. that last lady looks like she should be at Wal-Mart (or is it K-mart?). Enjoyed seeing your pics of the fair and am wondering why you don't enter some of your beautiful crochet? The 1st prize dress is nice but an easy design. I think you'd do very well. BTW, the face painting in your first pic is amazing isn't it? xox

  14. Can't be sure, but I got a feeling that the heart-glasses are not the first thing people noticed.. I'm just sayin!

Our State Fair is going on too. But its so expensive to go (pay to park, pay to get in the gate, pay for tickets, and the food has 5-star resturant prices ((for a fried twinkee))), and I don't mill-about-smartly with thousands of people, so we stay home.
