The Luckiest Girl Alive

We went driving up north this weekend and stopped here.

It was the neatest little antique store with the friendliest owner couple.
We had fun looking around, and lookie what I found...

It's an old crocheted tablecloth that I could NOT pass up.
I had to have it even though I knew it was probably too short for my table.
And it is, but who cares? Hell, I'll buy a new table!

A lady in Colbert, Oklahoma made this.
She had several others in the store and lots of doilies too.
It's so beautiful, and there's not a thing wrong with it.

There are 192 of the larger motifs!
I didn't even try to count the little joining ones.
Can you imagine the hours, days, weeks, months?
I paid $50.

And when we got home, my hubby gifted me with this...

GAH!
I've been reading and fiddling with it furiously trying to learn all I can.
I'm going to take some beautiful pictures!

Happy Dance.

You know the best part?  Come closer...
He told me he "loved me to death."
If I'm not the luckiest girl alive, I don't know who is!

  2. I have got almost the same camera (or even the same, not sure...)! It's a lot of fun to play with it but there are so many functions I don't get yet. My brother-in-law recommened a book which I will now use to learn... :)

    Take care

  3. How thoughtful of your hubby. I have a canon too. I've had it since January and I still don't know how to use it very well in the manual mode. It's a lot of fun playing with though. Great finds. You're a very lucky girl!

  4. Wow, that tablecloth is aMAYzing! It would fit my table, hint hint. LOL!! Great on the camera.. I hope you have better luck learning how to use it than I did on my big Nikon I got. It's hidden away somewhere because I could not learn how to use it. Maybe you'll inspire me to get it out and try again? Have fun!
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. Congrats on the great tablecloth find. It is really pretty and I imagine a lot of hard work did go into it. Your husband sounds very thoughtful! Your new camera is similar to mine, but it looks like you got the stronger zoom I've been drooling over. :-) Maybe Christmas this year. Have a great day! Heather

  8. Oh Pammy Sue that's so sweet and yes you are indeed very lucky.. I love the table cloth what a find and believe it or not I started to make one very similar when I lived in Syria I soon got fed up with it and didn't even get a quarter of it done in fact I still have 8 of the motifs, I did the centre piece in a couple of them. Of course I have lost the pattern long since but I was just looking at them the other day! What a posh camera! I can't wait to see all the lovely pictures you will be taking with it. :)

  9. Hi Pammy Sue,
Yes you are to be loved by a wonderful man!
What a fun day you had, I love crochet and have three vintage crochet table clothes similar to the one your bought. Yours is lovely and I would have bought it too. Great find.
    Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

  13. What a beautiful tablecloth!! Such a find! You could always put it on the diagonal. I do that with quilts sometimes, that don't quite fit the bed, or even a table.
Oh that Cap!!! Such a great guy! Enjoy that new camera! Can't wait to see your new shots!!!!
    Is it your BIRTHDAY?????
    Love ya,
    Kris

  14. Oh, that is so sweet - I mean the Captain, not the doggie dance. You are indeed a lucky girl - what a fabulous gift - good on him for being such a sweetie. The tablecloth was a great find and so very reasonably priced. I'm glad its found a home with you as, like you said, you can appreciate the time it took the lady to make it. Enjoy using it. xox
