Kabobs, Bread, and Bologna

The Cap grilled these steak kabobs out on the grill last night for dinner.
Really, really, really good!
We have plenty of leftovers for another two meals each.

I made this bread this afternoon.
Oh my!

I took these pictures when it was still hot, so the chocolate chips were melty and kind of took over the picture, but you get the idea. The pictures would look much better if I had let it cool first.  This is SO GOOD!

I can't find the recipe I used on Pinterest now or I'd just copy and paste it here, but here is a link to a similar recipe.  The recipe I used only had 2 1/2 cups of flour and called for butter instead of shortening:  Banana Split Bread

I know you are shocked because I am so refined in every other way (ha), but I love bologna!  This jalapeno bologna is out right now and I'm loving it.  I grew up eating bologna and still love it.  I'll eat it any old way you want to fix it on a sandwich -- plain, mustard, mayo, Fritos smashed into the bread, fried, whatever.

That's all I've got.  See ya.

  1. We grew up on bologna too. I like mine on white with mayo. We used to fry it too. The bread and kabobs look really good. I'm going to check out the recipe, my husband likes quick breads. Thanks for the comment on our new pup. My son picked the name, I was opting for "Bella". :-) Have a great day, Heather

  4. Remind me to invite myself to dinner at your place next time I'm in your neck of the woods !! Don't blame you for enjoying bologna. I love what we call Devon here (I imagine its similar) and love it fresh from the deli, double or even triple layered on a nice fresh buttered bread roll. Oh my, just thinking of that makes me hungry. xox

  8. Bologna and Spam!!!! When we were kids this was called junk food. I have to admit, however, that my guilty pleasure was frozen weiners. My mom bought them in this big boxes from the butcher. There were probably 36 in a box. She stuck them in the freezer and we would get them out and eat them like popsicles. MMMMM! Thanks for the memories. I'll definitely buy this if I see it at our market.

  13. Didn't know bologna came in jalapeno flavor. Haven't had it in ages. I remember frying it up as a kid and watching it puff up in the pan like a sombrero. Yum

  15. I am 63 years old and never had kabobs, lol. The bread looks yummy and the bologna, well I like just plain old bologna. We grew up with it too when we were young and I like it with lettuce, tomato, and mayo...but slab it with mustard or fry it up works for me too, lol
