Thunder Ice?

In the mail today...

The silver ring I ordered to replace the other one that broke.
Do you like it?
I do! And it fits perfectly.

We had an ice storm on Sunday...something they're calling Thunder-Ice was everywhere. This picture was taken by the Captain just after it started. It was weird to hear the thunder cracking and carrying on while the ice came down. It wasn't hail, but something much softer and finer. Not sleet either though. It's something I've never experienced before and the weatherman said he hadn't either. Weird weather these days.

(Unblocked in case you're wondering)

I finished the middle of my pineapple doily several days ago and started crocheting on the pineapple ring that goes around the outer edges. I got two and a half pineapples done when I ran out of inspiration. Now it sits on my dining room table waiting for me to finish it. It'll still be several days once I get back to it. The pineapple ring is slow-going for me. I'll get to it soon enough.

  1. Your new ring is lovely - I hope it gives you many years of happiness. I think you're very clever being able to make such beautiful, elaborate doilies. This one is looking good ... keep going so you can show us a FO soon. How sweet of the captain to put the heart in that ice. He must be a wonderful man. xox

I am afraid of doily's. Don't know why...just am. But I love yours.
    Be sweet.

  3. Your doily is beautiful! I love the pattern in it. Ice never heard of your weather phenomenon either. It is definitely strange weather happening everywhere. I'm so jealous of your pool. I wish we had weather warm enough to have a pool.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. That ring is awesome, Pammy Sue! The doily is going to be a pure work of art. I've never heard of Thunder Ice.. but it's an evocative word, for sure. I am home from a weekend adventure.. having fun sure is tiring! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. I love your ring it is beautiful. I love silver too. Your doily is beautiful I have never tried making doily's. My mom had doily's all over the house growing up. Bedspreads and tablecloths too I have couple small ones left from her. She use to tat all her colorful hankies too which I use to used all the time decoration in suit pockets or in purse to pretty to blow ones nose one them carried tissues for that. This weather has been super crazy this year see out Texas many people stranded on highway over night due to ice. I want to see spring for sure.

  8. Oh your ring is so pretty. I love it!

The doily is lovely..what pattern is that again? Gosh, you always make the prettiest doilies...I have doily envy! :)

Ok, the ice thing is weird. But I can't really say anything because Sunday we got freezing rain, then ice, then snow...and they wonder why people in KY drink bourdon! I don't of course, not being from here, I drink iced tea, like all the rest of my grits (girls raised in the south) do! Texas is considered part of the south, too because of ya'lls independent spirit and kick (you know what) attitude! Love Texas!

Now that I've bored you to tears...I wish you a most wonderful day... :)

  10. O.. M.. G! That sweet little face on your blog header is to die for! I want one just like him!.. As for the weather, we had some thunder snow, I'm told, but it was in the middle of the night, and once my head hits that pillow, I don't hear a THING! We've still got crazy-high piles of snow around here. Whatever sun we're getting just isn't melting it at all, and the temps just keep dropping this week; but we're all just hanging in there, as best we can, for Spring. Keep the faith!.. In the meantime, your doily looks like it's coming along nicely, and I LOVE the beautiful Fernanda shawl you made, in your previous post! Love the pattern, and love the colors!.. Have a great week! ~tina

  13. Like the new ring. It is perfect. The thunder ice, we have had thunder with snow and it is usually with blizzard conditions. I agree, the weather is weird. Hurry up and finish that doily!
