Holla!!

I'm recovering from three sets of epidural injections on Tuesday.  These were different than any I've had in the past (facet joint injections in the lower three discs; two in each disc on each side).  Right now I'm just a big ball of sweating, sleeping, red flesh.  I can't quite get awake -- probably the new meds -- but the steroids are still making me hot and red, even if I'm just sleeping.  So far so good on the back pain and spasms, but it's still way too early to make any judgment.

ANYWAY, I'll be back to the blog when I'm up and around and feeling back to "normal," whatever that is.  Give me a week or so.

Miss you.  Love you.  Bye.

Holiday Break

I'm putting the blog back up and keeping it up, but I won't be posting for a little while.  I hope to be back in December sometime.  Please don't leave me in the meantime!

I'm on Facebook as "Pammy Grapenthein" if you want to follow me there.  I will post things there while my blog is down.  It's easier to control who can read and comment there, and unfortunately I need that right now.  Click the Facebook button on my sidebar to go there.  Send me a friend request if you'd like to read.

Big hugs and love to all of you!  I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Outrageous!

O.M.G.!!
Have you seen this?

This is so damn idiotic!
Why?  Why?

What are they going to come out with next?  A strap-on vagina so little girls can simulate actual birthing a baby?  GAH.  Ridiculous!

I'd love to hear what you think.

Winner, Winner, Winner

Michael was the first one to correctly get my reference yesterday with the picture my front door from the inside...

The inside of the front door in Monica & Rachel's apartment on Friends with the frame around the peep hole!  Okay, so mine is a little smaller, but it had to be to fit the style of my door with the beveled panels.

Here's what you won, Michael...

A change purse and make-up bag from Cath Kidson and an EOS strawberry lip balm egg!  It's all packaged up and will go out via Priority Mail tomorrow.  Enjoy these little gifts and THANK YOU for reading and playing along!

I'm still crocheting gloves and have two more pair finished.  I'm knocking them out at the rate of one pair per night while I watch TV.  It goes so quickly.  The pair up top is purple, but they look blue in this photo.

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and got about 7 sets of buttons for making these.  They really add a nice finishing touch to these gloves with the faux straps.  I also got a new variegated yarn in browns for my next pair.

Off to work...

Plant Stand Makeover

I bought this plant stand for $25 about eight years ago. It sits out on the back porch with plants on it during the summer, and usually a dead plant in the winter. Ha. It's missing a finial on one side, but other than that, it cleaned up pretty well, don't you think?

All I did was run a piece of sandpaper over it to get any loose stuff off, washed it off with the hose, and let it air-dry before spray-painting it. It was perfect weather for spray-painting yesterday. I think I only got one coat of paint in my lungs. Cough-cough.

This is our front door from the inside. (No, my walls aren't yellow, but they sure do look that way in this picture - yuck.) Anywho...does anything look familiar?? What if the door was purple? Ring any bells?

The first one to comment with the correct reference gets a little gift in the mail from me!

I have work and run a about 250 errands today. I gotta get busy if I'm going to get it all done.

Later!

Colorful Morning Walk

A furry friendly squirrel.

You got nuts, lady?

*****************************

I got up early this morning and had a cup of coffee and then went on a little walk through my neighborhood and to the park. It was so nice and cool and crisp outside. A perfect fall morning.  The Captain went with me. This is his last day off before returning to work after our vacation.

Have a good one.
Talk at ya tomorrow.

Second Pair

Here is the second pair of gloves I made. These were made using the pattern Bev shared on her blog HERE, except I made the hand part longer for more coverage and I removed the row of DC (Row 1) from the shell rows on the blue gloves pattern. Check Bev's blog if you have trouble seeing the pattern correctly. She has offered to email the pattern to anyone having problems (see HERE).

I like the gloves made with the Caron SS Paints and size I hook. They fit more snuggly than the ILTY ones. I like them both...they're just different. I'm usually leery of using variegated yarns for anything, because I don't think it looks right for a lot of things, but I do like these.

For those of you that have asked, Janie is doing just great. The Captain came home with new beds for all of them this morning. You can see that Ollie prefers to sleep with someone, usually Sammi or Janie. As I told you before, Janie just loves Ollie and vice-versa. You can barely see Sammi there in the back because of her blackness. Fletch has always preferred to sleep in a chair, usually a desk chair in the kitchen or my office desk chair.

That's all folks!
I gotta get back to work.
Ew.

Gloves for ME

I'm getting back in the swing of things around here...

I finally made me a pair of these Romantic Fingerless Gloves to keep for myself. I've made several pairs over the last couple of year but have never kept any. Now I have some. I immediately started another pair in a slightly less bulky yarn. The ones above are made with Hobby Lobby ILTY and an I hook. I love this pattern!

I must thank Bev for inspiring me to make some gloves. She shared a pattern for gloves the other day that were really cute, so I got out my yarn and hook and made these. They take me about 3-4 hours to make, start to finish. It depends on how many times I get interrupted by the phone, dogs, hubby, etc. You know how that goes.

The second pair I'm making out of Caron SS Paints.

The spaghetti sauce I made in the crockpot the other day was SO GOOD. I just never get tired of spaghetti.

Speaking of spaghetti, I was watching Giada on the Food Channel this morning. I don't know why, but it really bothers me and makes me mad when she pronounces the Italian dishes she makes with an exaggerated Italian accent. Like today she kept saying spaghetti like this:  Spa-GEE-tee, with the accent on the "gee". She said it at least 5-6 times during the show. She also said pimento like this:  Pim-ee-EN-to, with the accent on the "en". GAH.

Mind you, she says everything else with no foreign accent at all, but she feels the need to say the Italian words with that stupid, fake, pretentious pronunciation. It makes me want to run up and push her down on her kitchen rug, and then grab her shoulders and shake the shit out of her.

We have a news anchor lady here in Dallas that does the same thing with Spanish names. She has absolutely no accent, but is suddenly stricken with a heavy one when those names comes up just because she has a Spanish heritage. It sounds really dumb and I get annoyed every time.

I'm trying really hard not to get up and make something sweet. I think it might be making me a tad irritable.

Okay, bye.

Saucy & Janie & Quirky

Spaghetti Sauce
Recipe:  HERE

We're home. I spent all day yesterday sleeping. I felt completely jet-lagged even though we drove, and I don't even know if that's possible, but that's what it felt like.  I'm better today and at least have a little energy, so I put this spaghetti sauce together and it's in the crockpot now.  This recipe makes a lot, so there's plenty to freeze or give away, which is what I plan to do.  I added diced green pepper to this recipe instead of the mushrooms.

Jane Doe, aka "Janie"

For those of you who don't know, I acquired another dog while on our trip. It's a long story that I don't want to get into here, but let's just say she won the lottery on Monday afternoon.  She looks so much like Fletcher, except she has more white on her face.  Otherwise, it's hard to tell them apart.

That picture above is after we had bathed her in our hotel room and bought her a new collar, leash, toys, dog food, and a blanket.  She was so dirty, the water in the tub was muddy rolling off of her.  At least she had no fleas.

She is holding her own with the other dogs, and I believe she has a major crush on Ollie. She is running in and out with the pack, and eating and sleeping like she was born here.  A trip to the vet is in order soon.  She cannot see out of her right eye.  The cornea is all clouded over and white.  Not that we're hoping to do anything about it, but I would like to know what the deal is with it.

Enough about the dog.

Isn't this a cool picture?  It was in our room at the B&B.

These were painted on the bathroom wall.  Kinda quirky and weird, but I thought they were neat anyway.

Time for a nap, I think.
Yes, it's definitely nap time.

The spaghetti sauce is making it smell great in here!
