This pattern supposedly was in the March ‘92 Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. Why don’t they ever publish crochet patterns in those kinds of magazines anymore? This picture came from Maze Walker on Flickr. I’ve had this picture saved forever.
I’m so excited because I got lucky today and found this back-issue online. I can see it on the the cover so I know it’s in there. I should have it in a couple of days since it’s being shipped Priority Mail. Yipee! I think it will be a fun pattern to make. All the different colors should keep it interesting. I can imagine it will make a pretty matching pillow too.
Do you like it?
Do you LOVE it?
I think I would make all the background colors the same (greenish-aqua) and keep the joining color brown. Or maybe vice-versa. Yes, mocha brown backgrounds with greenish-aqua joining. I can picture it in my mind. It will be something pretty to use as décor and not necessarily a useful blanket. It would be pretty in an entryway or living room draped on a bench or chair. Such a pretty heirloom to have for my children or grandchildren some day. The thought of it living on in the family long after I’m gone makes me happy.
Speaking of heirlooms, I so badly wish that I had a grandmother still alive to sit and crochet with. My Granny was a wonderful crocheter. I have a couple of her afghans that I cherish and use occasionally. I sit and examine the stitches and wonder what she was thinking about as she made them. I know she was probably watching a soap (she loved watching them), or she was watching a baseball game with my Pawpaw like they always did.
**Sigh**
Enough of that.
I’m outta here.

Beautiful pattern! I love colorful crochet afghans! Can't wait to see your progress reports.
My grandma was my crochet inspiration too. I never thought about wishing she was here to crochet with. That would have been so cool!
Glad you seem to be feeling better!
Wow....that is gorgeous. I can't wait to see what you make!!!
I had a great Auntie who crocheted. She made me vests, and ponchos! Remember those? She didn't teach me, but I remember her crocheting all the time. My Mom doesn't sew, or crochet or knit. I wonder why I had such a strong desire to learn these crafts?
Have a great weekend!
XO Kris
Upon suggestions form other, I went to our local library to check out their crochet books/magazines. Every single one was form the 1990's or earlier . . so many aweseome patterns I copied quiet a few.
I love it! You always find the neatest patterns. Thanks for the info on your pink and blue blankets, it definitely helped.
Lulu is very soft and she loves to cuddle on our laps. She is such a sweetie. We have to go out of town this weekend and have to board her, I hate doing it because I miss her so much when we are gone. Amazing how quickly our animals become part of the family, isn't it? Hope you are feeling better and that you have a great weekend.
To Dexter's Mom: I'm doing great on the hormone therapy. It completely cured my main complaint which was the hot flashes and night sweats. I was taking Progesterone and Testosterone, but now I'm just on Progesterone because I didn't notice any difference on anything the T was supposed to help. It was a gel and I hated using it. I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you are having bothersome symptoms. I am having great results!
Great find! Love all the blasts of color. Can't wait to see yours!
It's a beauty that's for sure. I like your idea of making all the backgrounds the same color. Looking forward to seeing your version!
Fabulous. If anything would make me go find my hook this pattern would....hint-hint...he-he...giggle-giggle...wink-wink....great to chat today.

Love those flower granny squares ! Can't wait to see yours !
That is a lovely flower pattern. I bet you are excited to start it. I would be too. I miss my mil. She was a fun crocheter too. I also miss the "Knit Club" gals I use to hang with once a week at my friend's yarn shop. We had the best fun, a variety of different ages but all of us with a common love of yarn. Some crocheted, some knitted and we all did needlepoint. I even took up crewel embroidery for a time. Then the macrame' phase hit some of us. Guess I am telling my age now, lol.
Happy Mother's Day!
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)

This is a gorgeous blanket, my mother used to get these magazines and I vaguely remember seeing this particular mag. Naturally, I remember it because that afghan was so gorgeous. She used to keep her magazines, but I she started trashing her old magazines in 2000. /cries
