I Hated It

I just ripped out every bit of joining I've done because I hated the way it looked.  It's too much dark brown, and the joining was too wide.  I thought it took away from the elegant look I'm going for.

Well, here.  You can see how it was looking yourself...

There's another row of squares that's not showing in this picture.

Do you agree that it's too much dark brown and too thick of a border between squares?

Tell me what y'all think.  I have no idea what I'm going to do now to join it, other than maybe try doing a flat braid join with the linen color?  I've never used that method before, and I'm not sure how joining it with the linen will look.

I'm wondering if I should take the dark brown off completely and just use the linen for joining and eding?

Gah!  I'm so disappointed!  I will fix it somehow.

  1. I am sorry you are unhappy with it. I think maybe a lighter shade of brown might have been better. I am not sure you will like the same shade as the squares either. But personally I think it is beautiful, and yes the flat braid join would make the borders thinner. It is so hard to frog when you have put so much work and effort into a project.

  2. I agree, too much dark brown and too thick of a border. I think the flat braid join would look good. Maybe you could use a little bit of the dark brown in the edging. The squares came out really gorgeous... love them!

  3. Actually I like it. The dark is a beautiful contrast to the light squares.

  6. I don't think it looks bad at all....but if it's not your vision, then you should change it. I think I'd leave the brown edging around each square. I like your idea of joining them with the linen color. I think that would look elegant. Have you tried holding up some other yarn colors next to the squares? (Duh...I bet you have!).

  7. I think just the white would be nicest, I think the contrast with that large of a square does take away from the elegance, or maybe use a different shade of white, I dunno... I think the square is absolutely beautiful

  8. I think the linen is a beautiful color and if you want a wee bit contrast maybe add a spring color like a linen with a bit of yellow or green in it? Eggshell White is a good one if you want that and yes flat brain join would work.

  9. I love your afghan I think that since you have a crochet border around your squares dark brown it seems to lose the pop out facto if the color contrasted against the dark ridge around the square it would pop ot the squares with a lacey look that you want. Just a thought you worked so hard to make this beautiful afghan there is nothing more frustrating that is not working out the way you want too. Maybe the color you started with your square give it a test before putting it all back together. Just a thought. Take care my friend.

  10. Hi Pammy, I am reading Eclipse of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyers. I started this when it first came out and fell behind. I finished Eclipse today and have one more in the series to go.

I am also reading The Mammoth Hunters by Jean M. Auel. It is from the Earthchildren series. An older series that I started years ago and never finished. Part of Clan of the Cave Bear.

And finally a book I started as a teenager t hat disappeared off the back of the toilet one day, I know my mom took it and trashed it. I started reading it again last year and want to finish it. It is Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor.

All of these are good in my opinion or I would not be wasting my time reading them because I have an extensive personal library of over 1000 books.
